1. My room is 12 ft in length, and 14 ft in height on two sides.
and 10 ft X 14ft height on other two sides.

The painter charges 15 rupees for a sq ft to paint ?

How much should I pay for the painting the entire room ?

What is the total area of the room ?

2. My room floor is 8ft X 14 ft, and I have to lay tiles of 1 sq ft each. How many tiles should I buy ?

3. The ceramic store has tiles that are 1 1/2 ft ( one and a half ft ) X 1/2  (half) ft.  How many tiles should I buy in the test case #2 above.

4.  A farmer is planning to plant   Coconut in his farm and they have to plant a Coconut 100 coconuts.
If they are to be placed 20 ft X20 apart, How much area in feet is required ?

5.  One cent of farmland is 1/100th of an acre, How much is 50 cents ?

6. Pansies ( a type of flower ) needs to be planted on a bed of soil. they need to be placed 1 feet X 1 feet apart. I have a plant bed of 50 feet X 40 feet? How many plants can I plant ?



7. An 1/2 ton air conditioner unit can cool a room of 2000 sq ft. My building has 8000 sq feet. How many ton air conditioner should I order ?

8. Throat infection : Virus multiplies at 2 every second.  how many viruses ( or how bad is the throat infection ) will there be in 10 seconds ?

meaning : 1 virus, multiplies into 2.
 the 2 viruses multiply into 4

the 4 viruses multiply in 8.

Use the 2 ⁰,  2 ¹ formula and tell me the answer.


9.  A minister wants to climb up 1000 stairs to Chamundeshwari Hills.

The first minute she climbs 20 steps, The next minute she climbs 1 step less, the third minute she climbs 1 step less than the one before.  At what point will she stop at 0, and rest for 10 minutes and start all over again ?

If the temple has the puja at 9AM.   At what time does she have to start from down hill ?


10.  A man walks  from point A to C a distance of 5 miles in 1 hr.
Another man walks from A to B, a distance of 3 miles in the same 1 hr.

A third person has to travel from B to C.
Question : how far would the third person walked from B to C in 1/2 hr ?
